WHO ARE WE?
CHERNOBYL JAZZ CLUB
In the midst of global pandemic in the winter of 2020, a group of rock musicians from Reykjavik, Iceland came together to form a band known as the Chernobyl Jazz Club. The band members included Gummi on guitar, Siggi on guitar, Elli on bass, Amalia as the lead singer, and Hreidar on drums. They shared a passion for music and a desire to create something unique that would captivate audiences all over the world.
In June 2021, Chernobyl Jazz Club released their debut album titled "Grímulaust" on streaming services. The album was a blend of stoner rock, hard rock, and metal, with Amalia's powerful vocals and Siggis powerful guitar stealing the show. The album was a critical success, receiving rave reviews from music critics and fans alike.
Despite the success of the album, the band faced a setback in the winter of 2022 when Gummi decided to leave the band. This left the remaining members in a difficult position, as Gummi was an integral part of the band. However, the band was determined to move forward and continue making music.
In March 2022, the band released a cover of the Icelandic song "Fljúgum Hærra," by the Icelandic 80´s band “Grýlurnar”which quickly gained popularity and made it to the X Dominos Rock Chart Top 20 in Iceland. This was a significant achievement for the band, and it helped to solidify their place in the Icelandic music scene.
In the autumn of 2022, the band released their album "Grímulaust" on CD through Aragona Records, allowing fans to enjoy the music in a physical format.
Chernobyl Jazz Club continues to perform live shows, captivating audiences with their unique blend of hard rock, grunge and metal. And with each new performance and release, the band only continues to grow in popularity and cement their place as one of Iceland's most beloved musical acts
